“Nature has already developed innovative solutions for living sustainably on our planet, so why not take inspiration from them to create the world of tomorrow?”

Moana Lebelis the President and Founder of the Institut du biomimétisme, a biomimicry institute in Montréal whose goal is to raise awareness and educate the general public and professionals about biomimicry. Moana, who is a Biologist, gives various training sessions and conferences on the subject and has written the book “L'artd'imiter la nature : le biomimétisme” (biomimicry: the art of imitating Nature). She believes that plants and animals offer the best solutions to a wide range of problems, and people would do well to use them as inspiration to create sustainable products, processes and systems. For example, an automobile technology company has created a new seat model inspired, among other things, by pinecones and hedgehog spines.
