The advent of the snowmobile in the early 1960s rapidly developed into a
new winter sport. Anarchy initially reigned within the sport, due to a
lack of structure and organization.
That changed as snowmobile clubs
were established, specific trails set aside, and safety improved. The
sport is thus always becoming better organized.
