The 1962 Snow Traveller K-95 snowmobile

 


Manufactured by Polaris Industries of Roseau, Minnesota, USA.

The 1962 Snow Traveller K-95 was the first production-line snowmobile to be manufactured in the United States. Its technological steps forward included a drive shaft, now used in the production of most snowmobiles.

Other features
A rear drive train, independent of the control levers.
Four-stroke Kohler motor with gas tank attached.
Joystick-type accelerator.
A track that included steel and canvas braces, as well as two side skis to enhance flotation.
Winch at the back to raise the drive train, adjust the track for the depth of snow, and remove accumulated ice.

Note: Came with the option of buying certain parts separately, such as a handbrake, roof, pulley guard, and compass. Snowmobiles were sold in yellow in Canada, and red in the United States.
